Broodstock Collection - West Fork Grays River, WA


  1. Adult Chum Salmon are captured by seining or hook and line in the West Fork of the Grays River. (Photos 1. & 2.)
  2. Fish are carried in PVC tubes to a holding tank in a pickup truck before transfer to Grays River or Beaver Creek Hatchery. (Photo 3.)
  3. After spawning, eggs are tranfered to Big Creek Hatcheryfor incubation and fry are reared in the hatchery holding ponds. (Photo 4.)
  4. Chum fry (Photo 5.) are released in Big Creek during March and April to begin their downstream migration into the Columbia River.
